DIY UPHOLSTERY THRIFT STORE CHAIRS USING AFRICAN FABRIC

IKEA HACKED

image

Am about to IKEA hack this cuties

image

I bought this beauties at a thrift store nearby. I bought 4 of them since I have been really looking for chairs for my living room. To my husband this were just ok but me because I have the crafty syndrome when I bought them they were covered with African fabric and they were white..

SO LET’S GET STARTED….
YOU WILL NEED…
â– Screw driver
â–  Paint (this is not necessary if you are not going to paint your chairs)

image

There are so many of these paints, I never knew white has so many shade lol. use primer

â–  Wood finisher/ gloss paint
â– Fabric
â– Glue gun ( I used glue gun because I don’t have a stapler).
â– gloves ( I didn’t use them, it was my first time doing this I just went in.
See my arm lol

image

Use gloves lol

1. Started off by screwing off the seat from the chair frame.

image

image

Save the pins very important

image

Observe how they did the corners of the chairs so you can apply it when you are doing your chair

2. Now let’s cover the seat padding first.

image

I used the fabric from one of the chairs as a template then I cut out this fabric here.

image

Place the chair padding in the centre of the fabric and make sure the whole fabric covers all corners of the seat.

image

I had to do this on the floor but any who...just pleat the corners and glue down around the seat...

image

This is how it should look no wrinkles on the fabric, just flawless. Now we are done, done with the seat, now time to do the chair frame.

3. Painting the chair frame… phew this is work I tell you… I used 7 bottles or cans of paint. I bought this paint from Walmart.

image

I took the chair outside and sprayed all over the chair frame and I made sure that no brown was showing, anything but white

image

I bought the paper poster board at a dollar store. Which i layed down to protect the floor from the paint.I did all 4 chairs and I waited for them to dry, which was the next day and I applied the wood finisher to give them that shinning gloss finish.

5.Finished chairs….

This chair just like Drake it started from the bottom now its here.

I thrifted the guitar too for $9.95

image

Lol now I can have guests over and rub it in their faces lmaoo.... IKEA HACKED

HAITIAN CLUTCH AND SHOES

I love clutches so bad that I even started my own business which makes women and men accessories. Which includes making shoes, earrings, bangles and of course clutches that why this page is all about me and my love for clutches and shoes.

imageimageimage

But today we featuring the clutch here. I am not Haitian but when I was asked to make this set, I was so excited because it was a different thing from what I am used to making like my business name says it all Ruralafrican, I make clutches, earrings and shoes using unique colourful fabrics found in Africa.

Thats what I am talking about baaang. You want to tell me you wont rock this collection from ruralafrican. 😉

So since the Haitian Shoes were such a challenge and out of my comfort zone I ended up doing a good job and also learning about Haiti as well and such a great country, lovely people who have been thru a lot but they never lose their smiles.
